Carlos Catani likes alliterated names, taking long train rides and standing on street corners, but he does not feel comfortable at the beach because the sun burns his skin. He is also married to a woman named Margarita Morteo Muñoz. What do you think about his life? Can you help him get over his introspective stage?
Shot on Super 8 film, Carlos Catani is assembled as a nostalgic photo album, which finds its nest in some of New York City’s last remaining “un-gentrified” locations. Fluctuating between absurd melancholia and deadpan innuendo, the short film provides a particular version of the filmed journal genre, with equal parts humor and sincerity.
Carlos Catani’s narrative toys with the idea that identity is an ever-changing concoction— on occasions real, but, more often than not, plain wishful thinking at best.

Hi Marcos,
I think I spoke to you for 2 seconds at the Coney Island Film Festival after my movie screening (Coney Island’s for the Birds, the pigeon racing movie.) I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to see your movie but I LOVE your trailer. Do you have the whole movie posted anywhere? If not, let me know when your next screening is.
Good luck with everything and congrats on the award.
All the Best,
Alexis
